SAP is a multinational software corporation and the market leader in ERP software for businesses of all sizes. As one of the world's leading producers of software for the management of business processes, SAP develops solutions that enable effective data processing and information flow across organisations. Founded in 1972, the company was initially named Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing (Systeme, Anwendungen und Produkte in der Datenverarbeitung in German), later abbreviated to SAP. Since then, it has grown from a small five-person startup to a multinational enterprise with more than 100,000 employees and over 440,000 customers in 180 countries and an ecosystem of over 21,000 partners in the SAP PartnerEdge Programme.
What is the SAP PartnerEdge Programme?
The SAP PartnerEdge programme, an initiative to broaden the scope and application of SAP software and help SAP capitalise on the rapidly-growing small and midsize enterprise (SME) market, offers savvy businesses the opportunity to participate in the SAP ecosystem through different categories and partner levels. SAP service partners can be consultants or systems integrators (SIs) that provide strategic business consulting, system design, solution integration, and project implementation of SAP solutions. SAP has dozens of certification types that are maintained by a department called the SAP Integration and Certification Center, or ICC.
SAP’s outsourcing and operation partner certifications help customers identify best-in-class service providers that meet their quality, scope, and geography requirements. These certifications provide the endorsement that customers need to entrust an SAP partner to manage their SAP solutions and SAP software environments in the cloud or on premise.
A statement from SAP highlights some of the benefits of the PartnerEdge Programme: “The relationship with our partners is one of our most valuable assets. The SAP PartnerEdge programme provides partners access to resources, services, and benefits to establish and maintain a successful partnership with SAP. SAP partner logos are a symbol of our commitment to work cooperatively with our partners and deliver solutions that build customer value and drive results.”
What do SAP Partners do?
SAP Partners offer fully integrated, proven SAP software solutions to manage critical business processes (BPO) for their customers. These solutions can be delivered using a private cloud-based offering or through one of SAP’s public cloud solutions such as SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Fieldglass, SAP Ariba, SAP S/4HANA, and more.
SAP Certified Partners who are valid members of the SAP Partner Community are allowed to display the SAP logo on their websites and other media. The type of logo and service offered is based on the type of partner they are. Levels of SAP certification partners include Silver and Gold, based on a Value Points system that recognises business contribution, including performance, competency, and strategic alignment on key solutions. As partners advance through the programme, they have the flexibility to add other engagement models to extend their business into related areas of design, development, and support.
The SAP Recognized Expertise designation are partners that have an acquired specialization/depth of experience in customer-approved projects in a specific SAP solution or industry. SAP has many ways for companies to partner with them, including SAP’s Strategic Partners (SAP Global Service Partners and Global Technology Partners), as well as Partners extending SAP solutions and developing purpose-built applications, certified integrations and partner packaged solutions.
Third party software solutions created by SAP Partners are thoroughly analysed and tested by SAP to ensure that the software functions as it should in a SAP environment. Only then is the software fully certified with the official stamp of approval from SAP. To meet this rigorous threshold, third-party Certified Vendor Partners leverage SAP-endorsed integration technologies to develop interface software eligible for SAP integration certification. SAP tests the software for correct implementation of SAP-endorsed technologies and/or stability in an SAP environment, which varies based on the type of certification.
Within the Product Certification arena, there are several types of Certification Scenarios and thousands of solutions have been certified to date. Having Certified SAP Integration means that the software not only meets SAP’s minimum requirements, but that it has also passed rigorous tests performed by the SAP team.
How do you find SAP Partners?
If you’re looking for a SAP solution consultant in your area, you should first make sure that you are working with a SAP Partner with the appropriate certifications, and not a company simply claiming to have them. You can find all SAP Certified Partners listed on the SAP Partner Finder website at https://partneredge.sap.com/content/partnerfinder/search.html#
The SAP Partner Finder helps you easily find accredited SAP partners who best fit your unique requirements. Choose a partner based on your business need, your location or solution. Partners are listed based on their SAP PartnerEdge partnership level. Choose any combination to find the right partner for you.
There are dozens of third-party software vendors out there, so be sure to check their SAP certification and level before installing any software that may damage or corrupt your current SAP environment.
